Pilot in North Macedonia: Testing an Emergency Button service (Red Cross North Macedonia)
During the InCARE final conference, partners from North Macedonia were proud to share that, after almost three years of designing, planning, and implementation, the pilot service successfully met the objective envisioned initially. Concretely:
- 57 old persons tested the emergency button service in a period of 12 months, 7 % of whom gave the service the highest satisfaction rate;
- According to the Quality of Life assessment tool EuroQoL the health status of the users of the emergency button service improved from 61,4% to 64 % ;
- 52 persons successfully completed the caregiver training and were awarded a state-recognised certificate ;
- A successful study visit took place in Graz, as well as various activities of networking, cooperation and promotion of the service in North Macedonia.
When it comes to the sustainability and potential integration of the emergency button service within the existing home-care package, Dusan Tomsic from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, indicated that various changes in the legislative landscape were needed. North Macedonian partners will work in the upcoming period to find an adequate solution.
